Reflections from Julie

Wow, this trip was definately an eye-opener and a life-changer. Probably from all the activities we did, I think the day that mostly influenced me was the day that we went to Roja. There were kids there from about ages 4-7. As soon as we walked in to the program, we each probably each had about two kids hanging on us, holding our hands, and hugging us. It was very cool to let theses kids know that we can give them the love that they've never had. A couple of us even had the chance to share Jesus Christ with them! We sang songs with them and also played hang games with them, which they absolutely loved. Probably the low point of the day was when we heard sirens going off, a little girl Crochet started holding her ears and saying Oh My Gosh I hate that noise, I hope it's not my mom, I hope its not my mom! We all realized at that moment what these kids actually go through, and it made us upset. Besides that, it was a great experience!! Also another day that really showed me why we were doing this trip, was the day that we went to S.O.M.E. (so others might eat). While there we served food to homeless people. It was really sad to see that this meal may be the only one that they have for the whole day. It showed me how blessed we are to have what we have. Also while there, Nicole and I played piano, and they were stunned by what we could play and praised us for our playing. It was so much fun. The rest of the trip was also fantastic. It definately strengthened my walk with God and brought me closer to him. This trip was a great experience and I hope and pray that I will have another experience like this again. Thank you all for your prayers and for supporting me!

Love,
Julie :)
