Day 1 - After School Care in Prince George's County
Wow....a very, very full day of rejoicing and wonder! You all saw us off - thanks for praying with us. We arrived in DC about 9:50 - unpacked, had orientation, played games to get to know our AWESOME host and guide, Tasha, and fixed and ate our lunches. We planned to work two different after-care sights...but as it played out one was closed, so we all ended up together. We got there just as the kids were headed out to play. Our team played whiffle ball, hopscotch, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, jump rope (many varieties), kicked soccer balls, the group song of "Baby Shark", did some moves with the basketball and lots and lots of talking, laughing and sharing with these kids. The students had prayed for opportunities to share their faith and the boldness to take the opportunities. They ALL experienced answers to that prayer today in the 2 and 1/2 hours that we were there! It was awesome. We left and headed out to the Old City Cafe - an Isrealee cafe. Falfales (may not have spelled that right) were delicious! Then we drove through the city stopping at various sights and praying for many aspects of our nation's capitol - all the government things, international guests, churches and their ministries, the poor and homeless. I'd love to write more...but it is late and I need to sleep some - In the morning, we rise early to head out to Food For Friends. Again, your students lived out I Timothy 4:12 and Micah 6:6-8 loudly today! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and the comments! Keep it up! I may post a few more pictures in the morning if time allows.
